Fixed Purse Strap

I have a friend who has what looks to be a crossbody bag. The separated carry strap was sewn poorly by her, and the chrome tanned leather was wrinkling. It didn't seem worth fixing, but I guess it has sentimental value to her.

I spent probably 9 hours cutting a veg tanned strip, punching stitching holes, and sewing it by hand. That takes a long time, and a long piece of thread for each side. I need a sewing machine.

I also cut a piece of green leather I have, which doesn't absolutely match, and used that and the underlying veg-tanned leather to join the rebuilt strap.

I dyed the edges, added swivel hooks, cut the little pieces on the purse and riveted them to the bag and added D-rings.

I told her the strap that I rebuilt has cracking near the swivel hooks, I couldn't fix that, but no one will see it, since it's on the bottom. You can see it in the photos.

Unfortunately, I didn't take photos before I started the process, but you can see what I've done and the result.
